Being from everywhere (California, Taiwan, Chicago, NYC, and Berlin), Daniel Wang will show you where we’ve come from. He could prime you with pages from gay classic Dancer from the Dance. He might demonstrate Vogue moves, or the Chicago Bus Stop. His is the definitive account of Berghain’s opening in 2004, and he captures the magic of the current Cocktail d’Amore party in the liner notes for their compilation. He’s been resident at Horse Meat Disco in Berlin, and hosted Cherry-O-Kie karaoke at SüdBlock. But his contributions to the dance floor — pure, joyful, musical music — are what he’s known for. His releases on his own Balihu label helped change the perception of disco and the “edit.” We’re giving this disco professor a microphone too, so come prepared.
